2nd day of World Cup

England beat Paraguay 1-0 though an own goal in the early mins. As expected, newspapers are shouting doom and gloom for England chances already but they are overacting. Paul Robinson was never really tested in the game and the defence looked like a solid outfit (unlike say Germany). Having said that, there are a few problems they'll have to fix. I still say that Gerrard and Lampard can't play together, take one of them out and put Hargreaves in the middle for defensive duties. Also Peter Crouch had a lot of problems with the Paraguay's defence yesterday, so you have to wonder how well he'll do againest Italy. Of course, the only other striker in the England team is 17 year old, never played in the EPL, Theo Walcott. So Crouch is safe, but Eriksson will have to do something about Gerrard and Lampard.

In other news, Trinidad and Tobago drew 0-0 with Sweden. Yes, that's right. The team everyone on television say will be thrashed 3, 4-0 has drawn with Sweden. Don't know what Leo Beenhakker did, but it worked. His players were gre..., ok not great, but they worked hard. So hard that our very own Singapore referee, Shamsul Maidin, sent of the the first player in this World Cup, T&T's Avery John. But Sweden is a vastly better side than they showed yesterday and the sole point is proably all T&T will get in this World Cup.

Argentina beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in the last game of the day. Didn't watch the game, so not much to say but Saviola and Crespo put Argentina 2-0 ahead before Drogba pulled one back for CIV.
